Is A Trip To Ixtapa On Your Mind?

A trip to Ixtapa is one you should consider as you weigh the different options in Mexico. Ixtapa is a coastal Mexican resort located in the municipality of Jose Azueta within the state of Guerrero. It was built in the early 1970’s on what had been a coconut plantation. A close nearby neighbor is the town of Zihuatanejo which has retained its traditional charms. It is by a bay faced by beaches for visitors to enjoy in myriad ways.

Making your way to Ixtapa

The Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo International Airport is about half an hour by car from the municipality. In the tourist season which stretches from November to April, direct flights to the airport nearby are available from certain locations. You will have to check about this option when you start looking into what mode of transport will be most efficient and preferable for your needs. Otherwise you will need to travel via the Mexico City Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juarez. From there find out how to go to the bus station to catch a bus to your destination. A bus trip is usually eight hours from Mexico City to Ixtapa. You may want to purchase a ticket for a ride on one of the luxurious coaches which show movies on the way and serve you food and drink. Or, if you prefer to drive, you can travel on the Autopista Del Sol or Autopista Siglo XXI to your destination. Please call your resort for directions.

Food and entertainment you may find in and around Ixtapa

No shortage of food and entertainment offered by the resorts in the area, places near by or a further distance away. Please make your tour booking ahead of schedule for any tourist activities in the area to avoid disappointment. In neighboring Zihuatanejo the majority of food purveyors are near the public market. Stores and art galleries are here along with other venues for the browser. Also, close by with the water taxi as your transport vehicle is Playa Las Gatas for even more places where to eat and shop. There shall be no disappointment on account of what what you may do in this area on your vacation.

Every October, you may decide to watch local boating and rafting enthusiasts participate in the San Jeronimito River Regatta near the town of Petatlan located just south of Ixtapa. And at the end of January if you are there at the time, there is the Zihuatanejo Sail Fest that benefits the Netzahualcoyotl Primary School.
